The Ministry of Local Government and Public Works through the Department of Civil Protection is hosting the SADC COMMITTEE OF MINISTERS RESPONSIBLE FOR DISASTER RISK MANAGEMENT (DRM) Conference under the THEME: “Building Back Better Together: Advancing Resilient Recovery and Sustainable Development in SADC”. The conference will run from the 11-14 May 2026 in Masvingo.
This Meeting will among others consider progress on the implementation of the decisions made during the previous meetings of Summit, Council and DRM Ministers, as well as receive updates on the implementation of disaster risk management and related programmes.
The Government of Zimbabwe is honoured to host the SADC Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Disaster Risk Management (DRM) from 11 to 14 May 2026. The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Meeting of Ministers Responsible for DRM is a critical regional forum where member states convene to deliberate on policies, strategies and collaborative actions aimed at enhancing disaster risk reduction and resilience across the region. This meeting provides an opportunity for Ministers to review and approve key strategic documents that will guide the DRM agenda, as well as to assess progress on operational initiatives such as the SADC Humanitarian and Emergency Operations Centre (SHOC). The programme is structured as follows:
The Conference will be held at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel, Masvingo.
The Republic of Zimbabwe, through the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development, the Ministry of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, and the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife, will co-host the SADC Cluster Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Transport, ICT, Information and Meteorology from 22 to 26 June 2026.
The Cluster Meeting will deliberate on key regional issues relating to liberalised SADC skies and their role in promoting economic growth, regional connectivity, trade facilitation and sustainable transport development.
In the ICT sector, discussions will focus on unlocking the potential of AI-enabled infrastructure and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) to accelerate digital transformation, regional integration, innovation and sustainable development within the SADC region.
The SADC Cluster Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Transport, ICT, Information and Meteorology will be held from 22-26 June 2026, ZITF Grounds Hall 2, Bulawayo, Republic of Zimbabwe
