About SADC

The information contained in this guide is intended to inform participants to the SADC Industrialization Week and the 44th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of SADC which will be held in Harare from 16 to 18 August 2024.

Introduction

The Republic of Zimbabwe will host the SADC Industrialization Week and the 44th Ordinary SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) from 30 July to 02 August 2024 and 17 August 2024 respectively. The Summit will be preceded by the technical meetings as follows:

  1. Meeting of the Standing Committee of Officials;
  2. Finance Committee;
  3. Meeting of the Council of Ministers; and
  4. 44th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government.

Programmmes

SADC Industrialization Week

The venue for the SADC Industrialization Week is the Rainbow Towers Hotel, Harare. The SADC Industrialization Week draws participants from the following sectors:

  • SADC Member States
  • Private Sector
  • Strategic and Cooperating Partners
  • Donor agencies and DFIs
  • Leading industry experts
  • Multinational corporations
  • Research institutions and academia
  • Small and Medium Enterprises
  • Civil Society Organisations from the SADC region

SADC Summit and Preparatory Meetings

The 44th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of SADC and proceeding meetings will take place in Harare at the New Parliament Building, located in Mount Hampden, 26km from the central business district. The Summit will be attended by:
  • Sixteen SADC Member States;
  • The Executive Secretary,
  • Deputy Executive Secretaries,
  • SADC Secretariat; and
  • Invited Observers
  • Access to the Meetings

    Access to the Official Opening and Closing Sessions of the Summit will be restricted as per the following format:

    • Member States;
    • Observers;
    • Special Invited Guests;
    • Local invited Guests;
    • Security Personnel;
    • Media Personnel

     

    Accreditation

    Accreditation of delegations will be processed in person and electronically from 28 July to 17 August 2024 at the following points: Rainbow Towers Hotel;

    • Meikles Hotel; and
    • Holiday Inn.

     

    Members of Delegation will only be considered for accreditation when their names are submitted via Note Verbale. To be accredited in advance, delegates from member states are requested to submit electronic copies of white background passport photos and passport biographic data
